An injectable slow-release naltrexone formulation is provided comprising naltrexone in a poly(D,L-lactide) matrix with a small amount of residual ethyl acetate. Upon intramuscular injection of the composition, naltrexone is released in a controlled manner over an extended period of time. The composition finds use in the treatment of heroin addicts and alcoholics to reduce consumption of the abused substances.

L'invention concerne une formulation injectable à libération lente à base de naltrexone dans laquelle le naltrexone est compris dans une matrice poly(D,L-lactide) comprenant une faible quantité d'acétate d'éthyle résiduel. Une fois la composition injectée par voie intramusculaire, le naltrexone est lentement libéré sur une période prolongée. Cette composition, destinée à réduire la quantité de substances abusivement consommées, convient pour le traitement de l'héroïnomanie et de l'alcoolisme.
