A securing device for electrical equipment in either its power "on" or power "off" status and which is adapted to receive the bail of a lock. The securing device may be used independently of or in tandem with a fixedly mounted lock having an extendable and retractable bolt. The securing device includes a housing having a passage therethrough with openings into the passage on opposite ends of the housing. A bolt is mounted in the passage for movement between extended and retracted posi- tions. A hasp plate extends outwardly of the housing and has a lock bail receiving passage extending therethrough. A lever is pivotally mounted in the housing and has a pair of arms extending oppositely from the pivotal mounting. One of the arms extends into the bolt passage and the other out of the housing adjacent the hasp plate. The lever is rotatable upon movement of the bolt of the lock between a first position in which one arm engages the bolt in its retracted position and the other arm obstructs the lock bail receiving passage in the hasp and a second position in which the one arm engages the bolt in its fully extended position and the other arm is clear of the lock bail receiving passage so that the lock bail may be inserted therein. In one embodiment, a spring is provided to urge the bolt to its retracted position. In another embodiment, a spring is provided to urge the bolt to its extended position.
