The subject invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising a safe and effective amount of a compound having structure (1), wherein n is 3 or 4; each R is independently alkyl or alkoxy; and R' is C1-C20 alkyl; and a pharmaceutically-acceptable topical carrier. The subject invention also relates to methods for preventing damage to skin, without markedly sensitizing the skin, by topically applying a safe and effective amount of such compounds to the skin.

L'invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques comprenant une dose inoffensive et efficace d'un composé de structure (1), dans laquelle n vaut 3 ou 4; chaque R représente séparément alkyle ou alcoxy; et R' représente alkyle C¿1?-C¿20?; ainsi qu'un excipient local pharmaceutiquement acceptable. L'invention porte également sur des procédés destinés à prévenir les lésions de la peau sans sensibilisation significative de celle-ci, par application locale d'une dose inoffensive et efficace dudit composé sur la peau.
