A method and system are provided for effecting interactive, three-dimensional renderings of selected body organs for purposes of medical observation and diagnosis. A series of CT images of the selected body organs are acquired. The series of CT images is stacked to form a three-dimensional volume file. To facilitate interactive three-dimensional rendering, the three-dimensional volume file may be subjected to an optional dataset reduction procedure to reduce pixel resolution and/or to divide the three-dimensional volume file into selected subvolumes. From a selected volume or subvolume, the image of a selected body organ is segmented of isolated. A wireframe model of the segmented organ image is then generated to enable interactive, three- dimensional rendering of the selected organ.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un dispositif permettant de réaliser des restitutions interactives et tridimensionnelles d'une sélection d'organes corporels à des fins médicales d'observation et de diagnostic. Une fois obtenue une série d'images tomographiques, avec l'assistance d'un ordinateur (TO), d'une sélection d'organes corporels, les images sont empilées pour constituer un fichier sous la forme d'un volume d'images tridimensionnelles. Afin de faciliter la restitution interactive et tridimensionnelle, on peut soumettre ce fichier à une procédure de réduction en vue de réduire la définition exprimée en pixels et/ou le diviser en sous-volumes choisis. L'image d'un organe corporel sélectionné provenant d'un volume ou d'un sous-volume est segmentée ou isolée et l'on construit un modèle fil de fer à partir de celle-ci pour l'obtention d'une restitution interactive et tridimensionnelle de l'organe sélectionné.
