- 12 - ABSTRACT A headphone cassette recorder including a remote control transmitting unit having a first select key adapted to select among PLAY, STOP and DIRECTION operation modes and a second select between key adapted to select FAST FORWARD and REW operation modes. Signals of different voltage levels outputted from respective select keys are applied to a remote control receiving unit, via a single line. When the first select key is touched on or pressed one time, under the initial STOP state, the operation mode becomes PLAY. When the first select key is touched on one time again, under the PLAY state, the operation mode becomes STOP. When the first select key is double touched on or pressed twice, under the PLAY state, the operation mode becomes DIRECTION. When the first select key is touched on again, under the DIRECTION state, the operation mode becomes STOP again. When the second select key is touched on one time under the STOP state, the operation mode becomes REW. When the SECOND select key is double touched on under the REW state, the operation mode becomes FF.
