A method for preventing, treating, or ameliorating pruritus caused by skin, mucosa, or systemic disorder. The method comprises administering to a subject with pruritus or topically applying to an affected area with pruritus an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition consisting essentially of a phenylbutyric acid or short-chain fatty acid derivative and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, salt or solvate thereof.

Méthode visant à prévenir, à traiter ou à atténuer le prurit causé par diverses affections cutanées, affections des muqueuses et affections systémiques. Ladite méthode consiste en l'administration à un sujet présentant un prurit, ou en l'application par voie topique sur une région affectée, d'une quantité efficace d'une composition pharmaceutique comprenant essentiellement un acide phénylbutyrique ou un dérivé d'acide gras à chaîne courte, et un véhicule pharmaceutiquement acceptable ou un sel ou un solvate pharmaceutiquement acceptable dudit véhicule.
