ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE LEAK PREVENTION DEVICE FOR A WASHING MACHINE A leak protection device for washing machine comprises a tray portion with a 30 inch square base and 1.5 inch height surrounding side walls onto which the washing machine can be placed. A back splash portion includes a back sheet and two side sheets which extend forwardly from the back sheet at right angles thereto and overlie respective ones of the side walls of the tray. The sides extend forward approximately 8 inches so that they overlap the sides of the washing machine leaving a space behind the washing machine confined between the sides and in front of the back sheet within which the plumbing is received. Bottom edges of the sides and the back sheet include a flange to provide a seam overlapping the top of the tray. Water is carried from the washing machine or from the plumbing is then collected in the tray and discharged through a drain opening.
