ABSTRACT A snowplow comprises a moldboard made of a one-piece molded material and an elongated handle extending upwards from a handle attachment system provided at the rear of the moldboard. The moldboard also includes a blade defining a concave front surface having the cross-section of a composite curve. The blade comprises opposite first and second ends, the first end being smaller than the second end with a scraping edge extending therebetween at a lower front end of the blade. The scraping edge extends in an oblique direction with respect to a direction of travel of the snowplow with the second end being located rearward of the first end when the handle is oriented in the direction of travel of the snowplow. The axis of the handle and this direction of travel lie in a same vertical plane. The composite curve cross- section is characterized by portions of gradually reducing radii from the scraping edge towards an upper edge of the blade. The blade defines an inturned upper end of inverted U-shaped cross- section and of increasing depth from the first end toward the second end. The inturned upper end terminates in the forwardly and downwardly extending upper edge of the blade. In operation, snow is lifted by the scraping edge and picked up by the blade. The snow carried by the blade gradually displaces therealong towards the second end thereof whereat it is discharged from the snowplow. A series of parallel grooves defined in the front surface of the blade are angled to assist in the advancement of the snow towards the discharge end of the snowplow.
