Abstract of the Disclosure: There are idsclosed novel flame-proofing agents for plastics, espe- cially for homopolymers and copolymers of sytrene and acrylonitrile. These agents are organic compounds containing bromine and one or two phosphinic acid groups. Besides the good flame-retarding properties these compounds have the advantage that they do not adversely affect the shrinking of foamed plastics.
