The feature of an expanding plug is a tension component in the form of a threaded stud (1) to one end (2) of which is secured, e.g. screwed, a drive point (3) on the rear side of which is an annular shoulder (4) on which, and surrounding the tension component, are fitted in axial array one behind the other an arrangement of two coaxialy mutually inserted expansion tubes (5, 6) secured firmly together at their end regions (7, 7") and a fitting tube (8) whose end which is away from the expansion tubes (5, 6) of which is secured to an anchor plate (9). The threaded stud (1) is passed through a drilling (10) in the anchor plate (9) and a region (7) the expansion tubes has helical slots with opposite pitch. A relative movement of the threaded stud (1) in the direction of the arrow (12) in relation to the arrangement of the fitting tube (8) and the expansion tubes (5, 6) causes the circumferential sections between the slots to be expand radially.
