It is possible to perform highly effective compression even if the information is on a shape indicating a shape such as a road of a short interval, thereby further reducing the data amount. Shape data (11) on a branch line connected to a main line such as a road has a start position (start node P1) on the main line shape data (12) and accordingly, the branch line start position information is expressed by a relative position utilizing the main line shape data. For example, the start position is expressed by [the main line shape data number to be referenced] + [the number of nodes from the main line start end] + [deflection from the direction of the main line shape].
