A device for suturing a vascular puncture site (14) includes a shaft having a distal end terminating in a pair of resilient prongs (42), each of which releasably carries a suture anchor (68) attached to one end of a suture (80). The shaft is installed within a hollow tube (44) for longitudinal translation therein between first, and second positions. The tube has a distal end portion (46), and an opening (49) spaced proximally therefrom. When the shaft is in its first position, the prongs are radially closed (Fig. 4) in the distal end portion. When the shaft is in its second position the prongs expand radially (Fig. 5) to an open position through the opening. The proximal end of the shaft is connected to an actuation member (62) in a fitting that is removably connectible to the proximal end of a sheath. The distal end of the tube is introduced into the puncture site through the sheath (12) with the shaft in its first position. The sheath is partially withdrawn, leaving the distal end of the tube inside the vessel. The shaft is moved to its second position, whereupon the prongs expand to their open position.
Ce dispositif permettant de suturer un site de perforation vasculaire (14) comprend une tige dont une extrémité distale se termine en deux branches résilientes (42) qui portent chacune de manière détachable une agrafe de suture (68) attachée à une extrémité d'une suture (80). La tige installée à l'intérieur d'un tube creux (44) dispose d'une liberté de mouvement de translation longitudinal entre une première position et une seconde position. Le tube comporte une partie d'extrémité distale (46) et une ouverture (49) espacée de cette dernière de manière proximale. Dans la première position de la tige, les branches sont radialement enfermées (Fig. 4) dans la partie d'extrémité distale. Dans la seconde position de la tige, les branches se déploient radialement (Fig. 5) en position ouverte par l'ouverture. L'extrémité proximale de la tige est reliée à un actionneur (62) monté dans un raccord qui peut être connecté de manière détachable à l'extrémité proximale d'une gaine. L'extrémité distale du tube est introduite dans le site de perforation en traversant la gaine (12), la tige se trouvant alors dans la première position. La gaine est ensuite partiellement retirée, l'extrémité distale du tube restant à l'intérieur du vaisseau. La tige étant amenée dans la seconde position, les branches se déploient en position ouverte.
