An expandable stent (1) has a sheeted material which is expanded from a compacted configuration to an expanded configuration. The sheet (1) is maintained in the compacted configuration at least in part by operation of a dynamic force, and the expansion occurs at least in part by removal of the dynamic force. In preferred embodiments, a bio-compatible sheeted material is wrapped around a retaining wire (23) to produce a compacted configuration, and the retaining wire (23) is rotated to maintain the compacted configuration during insertion of the stent (1) into a patient. The rotation is continued while the stent (1) is positioned, and then the rotation is stopped or slowed to permit expansion of the sheet (1).
L'invention concerne une prothèse endovasculaire (1) constituée d'une matière en feuille pouvant passer d'une configuration compacte à une configuration déployée. La feuille (1) est maintenue au moins partiellement dans sa configuration compacte par application d'une force dynamique et elle se déploie au moins partiellement lors de la suppression de cette force dynamique. Dans des réalisations préférées, une matière bio-compatible sous forme de feuille est enveloppée autour d'un fil de retenue (23) pour obtenir une configuration compacte. Pour maintenir cette configuration compacte lors de l'insertion de la prothèse endovasculaire (1) chez un patient, on fait tourner le fil de retenue (23). Lors du positionnement de l'extenseur (1), on continue à tourner le fil de retenue (23) puis on arrête ou on ralentit cette rotation pour que la feuille (1) puisse se déployer.
