A therapeutic crane for elevating the arm or leg of a user that may be positioned adjacent a chair or bed and has an adjustable free swinging horizontal boom is disclosed. The crane is free standing from a low base which supports a vertical standard. The base can be moved adjacent and partly under a chair or bed. The height of the standard is adjustable and supports at its top the boom in a generally horizontal plane. The boom has a hook for receiving a sling or like device supporting the limb of the user and is secured into a mount and may be manually adjusted to extend the hook over a range of displacements outward from the standard. The boom is mounted so as to swing freely in the horizontal plane so as to allow the user greater freedom of movement while maintaining the limb elevated. The crane is made of parts which are easily assembled and can be compactly stored and easily shipped or carried in a disassembled state and yet easily assembled into a working unit without the use of tools.
