The present invention provides novel .alpha.-O-linked glycoconjugates such as .alpha.-O-linked glycopeptides, as well as convergent methods for synthesis thereof. The general preparative approach is exemplified by the synthesis of the mucin motif commonly found on epithelial tumor cell surfaces. The present invention further provides compositions and methods of treating cancer using the .alpha.-O-linked glycoconjugates.
L'invention concerne de nouveaux glycoconjugués à liaison alpha -O tels que des glycopeptides à liaison alpha -O, ainsi que des procédés convergents de synthèse de ces derniers. L'approche globale pour leur préparation est illustrée par l'exemple de la synthèse du motif de mucine que l'on trouve communément sur des surfaces de cellules tumorales de l'épithélium. L'invention concerne également des compositions et des procédés de traitement du cancer à l'aide des glycoconjugés à liaison alpha -O.
