An electrical connector (12) is disclosed in a modular telephone connector configuration and includes a housing (14) defining a standard telephone jack. A plurality of stamped metal terminals (16) each have a resilient cantilever jack contact portion (24), a wire insulation displacement portion (26) and an intermediate portion (28) between the cantilever jack contact portion and the wire insulation displacement portion. The housing is a one-piece structure overmolded about portions of the stamped metal terminals, with the wire insulation displacement portions exposed for receiving insulated telephone wires (60). The housing includes a cavity (38) for receiving a standard telephone plug (64). The cantilever jack contact portions of the terminals are exposed by the overmolded housing adjacent the cavity, whereby the contact portions can be bent into the cavity. The housing includes at least one wire-driving portion (36) molded integrally therewith by a living hinge (42) and movable into engagement with the insulated telephone wires to drive the wires into the insulation displacement portions of the terminals.

L'invention est un connecteur (12) du type modulaire pour téléphone et est incorporé à un boîtier (14) portant une prise téléphonique standard, une pluralité de bornes métalliques embouties (16) ayant chacune un contact cantilever élastique (24), une partie autodénudante (26) et une partie intermédiaire (28) placée entre le contact cantilever et la partie autodénudante. Le boîtier est fait d'une seule pièce moulée qui recouvre en partie les bornes métalliques embouties, les parties autodénudantes étant exposées pour recevoir les fils téléphoniques isolés (60). Le boîtier comporte une cavité (38) servant à recevoir une fiche téléphonique standard (64). Les contacts cantilever des bornes sont exposés par le boîtier qui est à côté de la cavité de telle façon que les contacts puissent être repliés dans la cavité. Le boîtier comprend une partie d'insertion (36) moulée qui lui est fixée par une charnière (42) et peut être déplacé pour entrer en contact avec les fils téléphoniques isolés pour faire pénétrer ceux-ci dans les parties autodénudantes des bornes.
