The invention provides a device driver for monitoring and controlling access to data on a computer readable medium. The device driver comprises an interface for access to a device-driver stack for a media drive, a detector for detecting the insertion of a computer readable medium in said media drive, and a monitor for monitoring data transfer from said computer readable medium. The monitor evaluates a behaviour characteristic of an application accessing data on said computer readable medium, and indicates when said behaviour characteristic fulfils predetermined criteria. A control system is responsive to said monitor for issuing at least one control output when said behaviour characteristic fulfils said predetermined criteria. The invention also provides a method of monitoring and controlling access to data on a computer readable medium by means of the device driver.
L'invention concerne un pilote de périphérique conçu pour surveiller et commander l'accès à des données se trouvant sur un support lisible par ordinateur. Ce pilote de périphérique comprend : une interface pour accéder à une pile de pilotes de périphérique pour un lecteur de support ; un détecteur pour détecter l'insertion d'un support lisible par ordinateur dans ce lecteur de support, et ; un moniteur pour surveiller le transfert de données à partir du support lisible par ordinateur. Ce moniteur évalue une caractéristique de comportement d'une application accédant à des données se trouvant sur le support lisible par ordinateur, et indique si la caractéristique de comportement remplit des critères prédéterminés. Un système de commande répond audit moniteur de manière à émettre au moins une sortie de commande lorsque ladite caractéristique de comportement répond aux critères prédéterminés. La présente invention se rapporte en outre à un procédé pour surveiller et contrôler l'accès à des données se trouvant sur un support lisible par ordinateur à l'aide dudit pilote de périphérique.
