Methods and compositions for use in modulating the activity(s) of WISP-1 polypeptide are provided. WISP-1 antagonists include anti-WISP-1 antibodies, WISP-1 immunoadhesins and WISP-1 variants (and fusion proteins thereof) which inhibit or neutralize induction or secretion of HAS2, HA, CD44 or RHAMM by native human WISP-1 polypeptide in at least one type of mammalian cell. The invention also provides methods for in vitro, in situ, and/or in vivo diagnosis and/or treatment of mammalian cells or pathological conditions associated with native WISP-1 polypeptides.
L'invention concerne des méthodes et des compositions servant à moduler la ou les activités de polypeptide WISP-1. Parmi les antagonistes WISP-1, on peut citer des anticorps anti-WISP-1, des immunoadhésines WISP-1 et des variants WISP-1 (et des protéines de fusion de ceux-ci) qui inhibent ou neutralisent l'induction ou la sécrétion de HAS2, HA, CD44 ou de RHAMM par un polypeptide WISP-1 d'origine humaine dans au moins un type de cellule mammifère. L'invention concerne également des méthodes diagnostiques et/ou thérapeutiques in vitro, in situ, et/ou in vivode cellules mammifères ou d'états pathologiques associés aux polypeptides WISP-1 d'origine humaine.
