There is provided a method for enhancing the biological activity of herbicidal formulations of solid, imidazolinyl benzoic acid esters by adjusting the pH of the formulations, when diluted for spray application, to a pH of about 1.0 to 3.8 by the addi- tion of an alkali metal bisulfate, ammonium bisulfate or a mixture thereof. The invention also relates to a stable, non-aqueous, solid formulations of an imidazolinyl benzoic acid ester and an alkali metal bisulfate, ammonium bisulfate or a mixture thereof.
