The invention relates to a device that is to be used in the cash register zone of a self-service store and comprises at least one part which is driven in an electromechanical manner or by an electric motor. The drive arrangement of said part can be triggered by means of an electronic control unit optionally comprising a manually actuated operating device, by means of which the drive arrangement can be triggered as required. The control unit is provided with an interface for receiving and forwarding information supplied in an electronic form by an electronic cash register which is located in the cash register zone of the self-service store.
