The invention provides an aeration device which can be readily attached to and removed from a wheel of a garden implement such as a lawn mower. In one embodiment an elongated tine plate or bar has sharpened opposite ends and is provided with clamps for clamping the tine plate to the outer surface of the wheel so that the sharpened ends project outwardly of the wheel's peripheral surface. In another embodiment a tine is secured to the bight portion of a U-shaped clamp member which in turn can be clamped to the body of the wheel. The tine projects radially of the wheel once the device has been clamped to the wheel. Aeration will take place as the implement is pushed across a lawn, with the weight of the implement facilitating entry of the tines into the ground.
