ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for filtering and coalescing liquids An apparatus for removing contaminants from a liquid having a tubulus fibrous filter formed of fibres attached to end supports which are moveable axially relative to each other and are rotated relative to one another about the axis of the tubular filter and having motors for causing the relative movement of the end supports in which a sensor determines the torque applied by the motor causing rotation ant a control means stops the motor when the torque has reached a predetermined level.
