A process for conjugating organic compounds containing methylene interrupted carbon-carbon double bonds comprising (a) contacting ruthenium trichloride hydrate and an organic solvent or carboxylic acid to form a first mixture, the organic solvent or carboxylic acid being present in an amount sufficient to solubilize the ruthenium trichloride hydrate, and (b) contacting the first mixture with an organic compound containing methylene interrupted carbon- carbon double bonds at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient time to conjugate the organic compound containing methylene interrupted carbon-carbon double bonds; wherein the ruthenium in the ruthenium trichloride hydrate in (b) is present in an amount of about 5 ppm to about 100 ppm based on the weight of the organic compound containing methylene interrupted carbon-carbon double bonds.

L'invention concerne un procédé de conjugaison de composés organiques contenant de doubles liaisons carbone-carbone interrompues par méthylène consistant (a) à mettre en contact un trichlorure de ruthénium hydraté et un solvant organique ou acide carboxylique afin de former un premier mélange, le solvant organique ou acide carboxylique étant présent selon une quantité suffisante pour solubiliser le trichlorure de ruthénium hydraté, et (b) à mettre en contact le premier mélange avec un composé organique contenant de doubles liaisons carbone-carbone interrompues par méthylène à une température suffisante et pendant une durée suffisante pour conjuguer le composé organique contenant les doubles liaisons carbone-carbone interrompues par méthylène. La teneur en ruthénium dans le trichlorure de ruthénium hydraté sous (b) est comprise entre environ 5 ppm et environ 100 ppm d'après le poids du composé organique contenant les doubles liaisons carbone-carbone interrompues par méthylène.
