A device of the kind which comprises a rigid wraparound shell defining an inner space containing at least one sealed chamber is provided. The rigid wraparound shell (1) is comprised of flexible sealing walls (2, 3) which together define a sealed enclosure (5) having a lower pressure than the ambient pressure, and of a filler material (7) which completely fills said low-pressure sealed enclosure (5). The filler material (7) is rigid when it is inside said low-pressure sealed enclosure (5) and can be flexible when subjected to ambient pressure. It is thereby possible to obtain floating and/or sliding devices such as floats, hulls for boats, windsurfing boards, sledges, skis, tanks, devices for holding and/or supporting the human body in a natural position or in a predetermined position, such as anti-bedsore mattresses or cushions and surgical mattresses, and devices for holding and/or supporting at least one object in a cavity such as a piece of luggage, a container, a vehicle boot or the like.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif du type comportant une coque rigide enveloppante, délimitant un volume in- terne, et au moins une chambre étanche occupant ledit volume interne. La coque rigide enveloppante (1) est constituée de parois étanches (2,3) souples, délimitant entre elles une enceinte étanche (5) placée en dépression par rapport à une pression ambiante, et d'un matériau de remplissage (7) emplissant intégralement ladite enceinte étanche (5) placée en dépression, ledit matériau de remplissage (7) étant d'un type se présentant à l'état rigide dans ladite enceinte étanche (5) placée en dépression et susceptible de se présenter à l'état souple lorsqu'il est placé à la pression ambiante. On peut ainsi réaliser des dispositifs flottants et/ou glissants tels que des flotteurs, coques de bâteau, planches à voile, luges, skis, des réservoirs, des dispositifs de calage et/ou de soutien du corps humain dans une posture naturelle au avec mise en posture prédéterminée tels que des matelas ou coussins anti-escarres, des matelas chirurgicaux, et des dispositifs de calage et/ou de soutien d'au moins un objet dans une cavité telle qu'un bagage, un conteneur, un coffre de véhicule ou analogue.
