Abstract Glass fiber-reinforced cycloolefin polymer material and processes for its preparation. A glass fiber-reinforced cycloolefin polymer material comprises 1 to 99% by weight of at least one cycloolefin polymer, in particular a norbornene/ethylene copolymer, and 99 to 1% by weight of glass fiber. The absolute difference in refractive index (the refractive index of the glass of the glass fiber minus the refractive index of the cycloolefin polymer) is not more than 0.015 for each cycloolefin polymer, and the refractive index of the glass fiber is in the range from 1.510 to 1.560. The materials have good mechanical properties and a high transparency to light. The glass fibers employed prefer- ably comprise no size.
