A method of monitoring the intended injection of a fluid into a blood vessel, the method comprising: conveying the fluid to a point of injection, introducing a disturbance into the fluid flow prior to injection, and monitoring the fluid flow in the blood vessel downstream of the point of injection using a Doppler ultrasound sensor.
