A lid is provided for a stick of ski wax in which the lid comprises a collar having an interior diameter which receives the stick of wax at one end thereof and which receives ski wax applicator material at the opposing end thereof. The material comprises natural cork or a dense rigid foam material used for spreading ski wax. The lids are available in different colors which correspond to the different colours of wax sticks which correspond to different ambient temperature within which the wax is to be used. Accordingly a particular applicator can be associated with each stick of wax in a convenient manner which avoids contamination of waxes with one another when a common applicator is used.
