The invention relates to a process for the prepartaion of alkanesulfonic acids, comprising the following steps: (a) oxidation of alkylmercaptans and/or dialkyl disulfides and/or dialkyl polysulfides having from three to nine sulfur atoms with nitric acid to form alkanesulfonic acids, water, nitrogen oxides and other byproducts, (b) regeneration of the nitrogen oxides obtained from step (a) with oxygen to give nitric acid and recycling of the nitric acid to step (a), where steps (a) and (b) are carried out in reaction chambers separate from one another.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de préparer des acides sulfoniques d'alcane, qui comprend les étapes suivantes: (a) oxydation de mercaptanes d'alkyle et/ou de disulfures de dialkyle et/ou de polysulfures de dialkyle ayant entre trois et neuf atomes de soufre avec de l'acide nitrique, de manière à former des acides sulfoniques d'alcane, avec de l'eau, des oxydes d'azote et d'autres produits secondaires; (b) régénération des oxydes d'azote obtenus à l'étape (a) avec de l'oxygène pour former de l'acide nitrique et renvoi de l'acide nitrique à l'étape (a).
