A range hood having a back panel equipped with an air intake. The back panel is an enclosure that projects downward from the rear of the main body of the range hood. The motor housing is contained within the main body and has a motor and fan. The motor housing acts as a grease catcher. Air from above a cooking surface is drawn in through the air intake through the back panel and into the motor housing. A tray attached to the motor housing connects to a venting duct attached to the back panel, thereby forming an air passage through which air from the back panel travels into the motor housing. The back panel may be folded when the range hood is not in use.
