ABSTRACT: This is a process for controlling the water level ( high & low) in axisting beaver dams for to minimise the damage from th ever increasing water levels. In this invention a flexable hose. 4" to 6" diameter, is laid over a hole dug into the dam at a height that the installer desires the high water level to be. Than about 30 feet of discharge hose is secured below the water on the downstream side of the daM WITH A "T" attached to the end of the hose and a 1/4" screen protecting the and from debrie. Then, about 20 feet of inlet hose is secured under the water with weights attached to it about 3' apart or as needed so as to keep hose on the bottom, on the upstream side of the dam. The intake and is a cluster of four inlets created by attaching 3 "T"s together. this also to minimise the danger of the end becoming pluged, than a 1/4 " screen is wraped around the end to further protect it from being pluged up. The and is than securly attached to a steak which is driven into the bottom and pushed in to a level that will place and keep the suction and located at the level at which the installer wants the low water level to be maintained at ( preferably about 8 to 10 inches below the high water level ) This instalation creates a siphon which will start to siphon water when the water in the dam rises above the top of the siphon and will stop siphoning the water when the water reaches the intake of the sipnon (low level The process then will keep repeating itself as the water in the dam rises again above the top of the siphon.priming it again and pumping back down till air again enters the inlet when the water is lowered to the inlet. The water in the dam is thus maintained between the High and low levels determined at the instalation of the siphon..A siphon of course requires no energy to operate, and will shut itself on and off automatically as the after level rises over top level and then falls below the inlet level. The beavers instincts are foiled by this because it can not detect a hole in the dam and will not be able to stop the pumping action.
