A topical ophthalmic composition comprised of povidone-iodine 0.01% to 10.0% combined with a steroid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. This solution is useful in the treatment of active infections of at least one tissue of the eye (e.g., conjunctiva and cornea) from bacterial, mycobacterial, viral, fungal, or amoebic causes, as well as treatment to prevent such infections in appropriate clinical settings (e.g. corneal abrasion, postoperative prophylaxis, post- LASIK/LASEK prophylaxis). Additionally the solution is effective in the prevention of infection.and inflammation in the post-operative ophthalmic patient.
L'invention concerne une composition ophtalmique à usage local comprenant de la povidone iodée 0,01 % à 10,0 % combinée avec un anti-inflammatoire stéroïdien ou non stéroïdien. Cette solution est utile dans le traitement d'infections actives d'au moins un tissu de l'AEil (par exemple la conjonctive et la cornée) d'origine bactérienne, mycobactérienne, virale, fongique ou amibienne, ainsi que dans un traitement de prévention de ces infections dans un cadre clinique approprié (par exemple abrasion cornéenne, prophylaxie post-opératoire, prophylaxie post-LASIK/LASEK). En outre, la solution permet de prévenir efficacement les infections et les inflammations post-opératoires des patients en chirurgie ophtalmique.
