A cell (1) for electrowinning a metal in powder form from solution is dis-closed. The cell (1) includes a housing (2) having an inlet (3) towards one end thereof and an outlet (4) towards an opposed end. The cell has a cylindrical anode (6) extending sub-stantially axially through the housing (2) and a cathode (7) surrounding the anode (6) spaced outwardly away therefrom. The anode (6) and cathode (7) define a flow passage (8) there-between having a gap of 5 to 25 millimetres. In use the cell has a substantially vertical orientation with the inlet (3) at the bottom and the outlet (4) at the top. During the flow of process solution through the cell (I) metal powder is deposited on the cathode (7). Periodi-cally the flow process solution is interrupted and flush solution is passed in a reverse direction through the cell to remove powder metal from the cathode (7). A bank of cells in which the individual cells are connected in parallel to respectively an inlet main and an outlet main is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne une cellule (1) de récupération électrolytique d'un métal en poudre dans une solution. Ladite cellule (1) comporte une enceinte (2) dotée d'une entrée (3) située près d'une extrémité de celle-ci et d'une sortie (4) situé près de l'extrémité opposée. La cellule possède une anode cylindrique (6) s'étendant sensiblement axialement dans l'enceinte (2) et une cathode (7) entourant l'anode (6), à une certaine distance vers l'extérieur de cette dernière. L'anode (6) et la cathode (7) délimitent entre elles un passage d'écoulement (8) de 5 à 25 millimètres. Lorsqu'elle est utilisée, la cellule est orientée sensiblement verticalement, l'entrée (3) se trouvant en bas et la sortie (4) en haut. Pendant l'écoulement de la solution de traitement dans la cellule (1), la poudre métallique se dépose sur la cathode (7). Périodiquement, l'écoulement de la solution de traitement est interrompu et une solution de rinçage est envoyée dans le sens inverse dans la cellule, de sorte que le métal en poudre soit enlevé de la cathode (7). Un groupe de cellules, dans lequel les cellules séparées sont reliées en parallèle respectivement à la conduite d'entrée et à la conduite de sortie, est également décrit.
