The invention features a purified nucleic acid that encodes a member of the hepadnavirus family of cellular receptors. The receptor is a 170 kD cell surface glycoprotein, and is referred to as the p170 receptor. The pre-S domain of the duck hepatitis B virus envelope protein binds the p170 receptor at a major neutralizing epitope, within which are two basic amino acids required for virion-receptor interaction.

L'invention concerne un acide nucléique purifié codant pour l'un des récepteurs cellulaires de la famille des virus ADN de l'hépatite. Ce récepteur est une glycoprotéine de surface cellulaire de 170 kD, désigné sous le terme de récepteur p170. Le domaine pré-S de la protéine d'enveloppe du virus de l'hépatite B du canard se lie au récepteur p170 au niveau d'un épitope neutralisant majeur, à l'intérieur duquel se trouvent deux acides aminés basiques nécessaires à l'interaction virion-récepteur.
