A method of priming a substrate comprising applying to the substrate a blend comprising (a) a modified block copolymer comprising (i) a polystyrene block and (ii) a polydiene block or a hydrogenated polydiene block, the polydiene block or hydrogenated polydiene block being modified to contain an average of one or more carboxyl groups; and (b) a polymer comprising a polymerization reaction product of two or more mono-ethylenically unsaturated monomers in which (i) at least one of the monomers is an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester of a non-tertiary alcohol having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, inclusive, and (ii) at least one of the monomers is a nitrogen-containing monomer; in particular, a method of enhancing adhesion between a substrate and an adhesive comprising the steps of priming the substrate by applying to the substrate the blend and applying the adhesive to the primed substrate.

L'invention porte sur un procédé d'application d'une couche de fond sur un substrat consistant à lui appliquer un mélange comprenant: (a) un copolymère bloc modifié comportant (i) un bloc polystyrène et (ii) un bloc polydiène ou un bloc polydiène hydrogéné modifiés pour inclure en moyenne un ou plusieurs groupes carboxyles; et (b) un polymère comprenant un produit de réaction de polymérisation d'au moins deux monomères à une seule insaturation éthylénique dans lesquels (i) l'un au moins des monomères est un ester d'acide acrylique ou méthacrylique et d'un alcool non tertiaire contenant de 1 à 14 atomes de carbone, et (ii) dans lequel l'un au moins des monomères est azoté. L'invention porte en particulier sur un procédé d'amélioration de l'adhérence entre un substrat et un adhésif, consistant à appliquer une couche de fond sur le substrat par application du susdit mélange puis à appliquer l'adhésif sur le mélange recouvrant le substrat.
