-13- An apparatus illustrated in two embodiments assists a sole worker in the positioning and installing of ceiling panels, such as sheetrock, to ceiling joists. In the first embodiment, a panel is placed on an arm pivotably connected to a post firmly positioned between a floor and a ceiling. Upon the release of a lever, a pressurized gas cylinder causes the arm to lift the panel angularly into substantially horizontal orientation adjacent the ceiling joists. In the second embodiment a plate formed with a ramp portion extends at an angle to a bearing plate portion. The bearing plate portion is fastened to a ceiling joist with the ramp portion angled downward. A first edge of a ceiling panel is placed on the ramp and the oppositeedge of the ceiling panel is lifted by a worker so that the first edge is forcedupward on the ramp to rest on the bearing portion as the second edge is brought into a substantially horizontal position.
-13- Appareil illustré en deux modèles privilégiés pour aider un travailleur seul à positionner et à installer des panneaux de plafond (plaques de plâtre, p.ex.) sur des solives de plafond. Dans le premier modèle privilégié, on place le panneau sur un bras qui est retenu par un pivot à un poteau solidement fixé en place entre le plancher et le plafond. Après avoir désembrayé un levier, un cylindre de gaz comprimé actionne un bras qui soulève angulairement le panneau jusqu'à ce qu'il soit pratiquement à l'horizontale, près des solives de plafond. Dans le deuxième modèle privilégié, il s'agit d'une plaque qui est constituée d'une partie rampe et d'une partie plaque d'appui; la rampe se prolonge jusqu'à la plaque d'appui qui doit être fixée à une solive de plafond, la rampe étant inclinée vers le bas. Le travailleur n'a qu'à déposer une rive du panneau de plafond sur la rampe, puis à pousser sur la rive opposée pour amener la première rive jusqu'à la plaque d'appui et, du même coup, amener le panneau pratiquement à l'horizontale.
