A confocal scanning microscope includes a light source which provides a light beam and scanning optics which sweep the light beam across the surface of a sample. Light from the surface or interior of the sample passes through a pinhole lens which focuses the light on a pinhole for detection by an optical detector. An image of the surface may be scanned using the optical detector. An optical element (42) is inserted in a detection arm of the confocal microscope. The optical element (42) provides angular magnification and natural divergence to the beam from the surface of the sample.

Ce microscope confocal à balayage comporte une source lumineuse fournissant un faisceau lumineux et des optiques de balayage qui déplacent le faisceau lumineux sur toute la surface d'un échantillon. La lumière provenant de la surface ou de l'intérieur de l'échantillon traverse une lentille sténopéique qui focalise la lumière sur le trou sténopéique aux fins de détection par capteur optique. Il est possible d'obtenir une image balayée par scanneur de la surface en utilisant le capteur optique.
