A process and apparatus for recycling asphalt based material(shingles&flat roof) which comprises components of asphalt, fiber, fillers&aggragates binded by the asphalt. When desired mesh size breakdown is achieved mechanically in a water medium by (shredding, pulverizing, cuttermill and water pressure jets),the resulting slurry is fed to a special vibroscreen water separator(Chiovitti) where additional water and if need air is introduced to the slurry. This will cause the less dense asphalt-fiber fraction to float on the water surface and is discharged to a dewatering filter-screen.The aggragate - asphalt fraction being denser goes through the desired mesh-size under water and is removed to a dewatering filter-screen.Thus two main products (asphalt-fiber &aggragate- asphalt with their respective finer meshes obtained through filtration) are obtained which can be used as a base for many finished end products;fuel, component source for asphalt,water- repellant-fibers,fillers,paving additives.expanding joints, recovery board etc.
