The ski boot according to this invention, comprises a lower boot portion, a distinct separate foot portion, vertical hingedly, torsional rigidly connected to the boot portion, a shaft, resilient elements and hinging means connecting these elements wherein the shaft to boot portion angular movement is coordinated with the shaft to foot portion angular movement, providing leveraged longitudinal weightshift. The ski boot synergistically combines Nordic and Alpine ski boot characterisitics. More particularly, the ski boot provides vertical uplift, characteristic of a Nordic ski boot, in combination with longitudinal weight shift exceeding that of prior art Nordic and Alpine ski boots. The ski boot further provides the skier means for gradual familiarization with the novel boot characteristics by providing a wide range of easily insertable standardized cartridges, identified by indicia and through skier selectable boot residing geometries.
