An information signal is supplied to a host computer through a B-channel of ISDN from a terminal unit connected with the host computer. On a television monitor of the host computer, a shot image of a terminal unit and an indication of the terminal to which the shot image belongs are displayed. When anomaly is detected at another terminal unit, a connection request signal and an anomaly discrimination signal are supplied to the through a D-channel of ISDN. On the television monitor, the terminal at which anomaly is detected and the descriptions of the anomaly are displayed. A terminal unit connected with the host computer is switched through the B-channel to the terminal at which the anomaly is detected, automatically or in accordance with operation by a user. An information signal is transmitted to the host computer from the terminal unit at which the anomaly is detected. A shot image of the terminal unit at which the anomaly is detected, the identification of the terminal unit at which the anomaly is detected, and the descriptions of the anomaly are displayed. Thus, monitoring may be carried out by a single host computer using a plurality of terminal units.
