A self-regulating gastric band apparatus (400) for adjusting stoma size. The apparatus includes an adjustable gastric band (460) that has an inner ring expanding with injected fluid. A band adjustment assembly (442) is provided for implanting with the gastric band that includes a sensor (450) for sensing fluid pressure in the inner ring. The band adjustment assembly further includes a pump assembly connected to the expandable inner ring and to a controller (432) that can operate the pump assembly to adjust the volume of the fluid in the band based on the sensed fluid pressure. The band adjustment assembly includes memory (436) storing an operating range relative to a target fluid pressure, and the pump assembly is operated to maintain the sensed band pressure within the operating range. The target pressure being set to maintain pressure variations below a predefined variation limit generally corresponding with satiated fill volumes for a particular patient and implanted band.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de bande gastrique autorégulée (400) qui permet d'ajuster la taille de la stomie. Le dispositif comprend une bande gastrique réglable (460) pourvue d'un anneau intérieur qui s'étend lorsque l'on injecte un fluide. Un ensemble de réglage de la bande (442) est destiné à être implanté avec la bande gastrique et comporte un capteur permettant de détecter la pression du fluide dans l'anneau intérieur. L'ensemble de réglage de la bande se compose aussi d'un ensemble pompe relié à l'anneau intérieur extensible et à un dispositif de commande (432) qui peut actionner l'ensemble pompe afin d'ajuster le volume du fluide dans la bande sur la base de la pression du fluide détectée. L'ensemble de réglage de la bande comprend une mémoire (436) stockant une gamme de fonctionnement portant sur une pression du fluide cible et le fonctionnement de l'ensemble pompe permet de conserver la pression de la bande captée dans la gamme de fonctionnement. La pression cible est établie en vue de maintenir les variations de pression en dessous d'une limite de variation prédéfinie correspondant généralement à des volumes de remplissage permettant d'atteindre une sensation de satiété pour un patient particulier et une bande implantée.
