2113359 9323771 PCTABS00028 A method for improvement of seismic sections is disclosed, including generating seismic signal at source stations, registration seismic traces at receiver stations and gathering said seismic traces as a first gather at a common point as function of offset between source station and receiver station which method is characterized by: selecting a common point (MMOCMP) which position is defined by l2 = h2 - b2 + r2, where h = half-offset between source station and receiver station, defining RAWCMP, b = distance between RAWCMP and a point on the line joining source station and receiver station corrected by dip moveout, defining DMOCMP, r = distance between DMOCMP and MMOCMP, l = distance between the selected common point MMOCMP and the RAWCMP; redefining half offset with regard to said common point by l; sorting said seismic traces as a function of redefined half-offset l constituting a second gather of traces. The method allows to get true located subsurface information at any desired point for velocity analysis.
