ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Stable lactices of polymer particles insoluble in non-polar organic solvents are prepared by the attachment of the insoluble polymer particles to a stabilizer soluble in the non-polar organic solvent. The stabilizer comprises the adduct of a polymer bearing pendant azlactone groups which is soluble in non-polar organic solvents and an ethylenically unsaturated nucleophile bearing an axlactone reactive nucleophilic moiety.
