Apparatuses for and methods of installing ear tags are provided. One embodiment of the invention is defined as an ear tag installation tool and which makes use of a pair of handle members (12, 14) which control the insertion of an inserting member (30) through an opening formed in the ear of an animal. The inserting member has attached to it a portion of the ear tag during the insertion process. The inserting member may be disposable and separate from the handle members after the insertion process is complete. In a second embodiment, the ear tag installation tool is an elongate tool having a handle (52) and a distal tip for receiving the inserting member. In a third embodiment of the invention, an ear tag installer (110) is provided which has some elements directly attached to the ear tag. The ear tag installer also includes a driving tool (60) which forces the inserting member (114) through the ear. In this third embodiment, the ear tag installation tools of the first and second embodiments can be used as preferred forms of the driving tool. In another embodiment of the invention, the elements of the third embodiment attached to the ear tag can be separately defined as a modified ear tag with inherent installation capability. In yet another embodiment, the distal ends of the handle members may be modified so that biasing forces are used to enhance the method of installing the ear tags.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé de pose de marques d'oreilles. Dans une première exécution, l'outil de pose comporte une paire de poignées (12, 14) commandant l'insertion dans une ouverture pratiquée dans l'oreille de l'animal d'un insert (30) auquel est attachée une partie de la marque et qui peut être perdu et séparé des poignées après la pose. Dans une deuxième exécution, l'outil de pose est allongé et muni d'une poignée (52) et d'un embout distal recevant l'insert. Dans une troisième exécution, l'outil de pose (110) comporte certains éléments directement attachés à la marque ainsi qu'un poussoir (60) enfonçant l'insert (114) dans l'oreille, dans cette troisième exécution, on utilise de préférence comme poussoir l'outil de la première ou de la deuxième exécution. Dans une quatrième exécution, les éléments de la troisième exécution fixés à la marque peuvent constituer une marque modifiée présentant ses propres capacités de pose. Dans un cinquième exécution les extrémités distales des poignées sont modifiés pour pouvoir utiliser une force de rappel qui améliore le procédé de pose.
