An absorbent article includes a pair of compression resistant containment barriers which are configured to inhibit the lateral flow of fecal exudates along the surface of the absorbent article. The containment barriers are laterally spaced apart to provide a void space between the wearer's buttocks and the surface of the absorbent article for containing body exudates. Each containment barrier defines a width to height ratio of at least about 0.5 and a compression resistance of at least about 50 percent. The absorbent article may also include a containment dam which is located on the bodyfacing surface of the absorbent article and which is configured to inhibit a longitudinal flow of fecal exudates along the surface of the absorbent article. In a particular embodiment, the containment barriers are located between the topsheet layer and absorbent body of the absorbent article. In such a configuration, the topsheet layer defines an opening which is located at least partially over the containment barriers to receive fecal exudates.
Cette invention concerne un article absorbant qui comprend deux barrières de contention résistant à la compression, lesquelles permettent d'empêcher l'écoulement latéral d'exsudats fécaux sur la surface dudit article. Ces barrières de contention sont espacées latéralement l'une de l'autre de manière à former un espace vide entre les fesses de la personne et la surface de l'article absorbant qui va contenir les exsudats corporels. Dans un mode de réalisation particulier, les barrières de contention sont disposées entre la couche supérieure et le corps absorbant de l'article. Selon cette configuration, la couche supérieure comprend une ouverture qui est pratiquée, en partie au moins, au-dessus des barrières de contention de manière à recevoir les exsudats fécaux.
