A carton includes a top panel (26), a pair of opposed end panels (40, 42), and an integral strap handle (200) that has a medial grip portion (202), a pair of wider portions (204, 206) and opposed end portions (208, 210). The opposed end portions (208, 210) are formed from the end panels (40, 42) while the medial (202) and wider portions (204, 206) are formed from the top panel (26). The strap handle (200) is movable from a stowed position where the medial (202) and wider portions (204, 206) lie in the plane of the top panel (26) to a use position where the medial portion (202) is arched upwardly from the plane of the top panel (26). The strap handle (200) defines in the top panel (26) an opening (252) extending across the top panel (26). A relief notch (218, 220) is formed in the top panel (26) at a location directly adjoining each wider portion (204, 206) along a complementary side edge (90, 94) of the opening.
