Describes a new strain of Streptococcus thermophilus ssp. Salivarius (deposited on 4 December 2001 at the DSMZ-Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH, Braunschweig, Germany, with accession No. DSM 14667) and edible compositions, drugs and veterinary products containing it. The use of the said strain is particularly effective in the prevention/treatment of hepatic steatosis (fatty liver) and in nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis.

L'invention se rapporte à une nouvelle souche de Streptococcus thermophilus ssp. salivarius (déposée le 4 décembre 2001 à la DSMZ-Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH, Braunschweig, Allemagne, numéro d'enregistrement DSM 14667) et à des compositions comestibles, à des médicaments et à des produits vétérinaires la contenant. L'invention concerne aussi l'utilisation particulièrement efficace de cette souche dans la prévention/le traitement de la stéatose hépatique et de la stéatose hépatique non alcoolique.
