The present invention relates to the use of a non-depleting anti-CD4 monoclonal antibody for the manufacture of a medicament for the induction of a state of immunological tolerance to an antigen by a method which comprises administering said non-depleting anti-CD4 monoclonal antibody to a subject together with a non-depleting anti-CD8 monoclonal antibody to induce an immunological tolerance permissive environment within said subject by means of said antibodies in the presence of said antigen. Also, the invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition in unit dose form com- prising from 1 to 400 mg per unit dose of a non-deplet- ing anti-CD4 antibody or a non-depleting anti-CD8 anti- body together with a pharmaceutically acceptable car- rier or diluent in a form suitable for administration to a human subject.
