An absorbent dressing that includes a transparent, elastomeric, body fluid- absorbing composition that is essentially free of hydrocolloidal gel particles. The composition includes the reaction product of: (a) 20 to 80 parts by weight of an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester of a non-tertiary alcohol having between 4 and 14 carbon atoms, inclusive; (b) 30 to 60 parts by weight of a hydrophilic, ethylenically unsatured monomer; and (c) 5 to 25 parts by weight of a polar, ethylenically unsaturated monomer different from the hydrophilic, ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The composition is capable of absorbing moderate to heavy amounts of body fluids, while retaining its structural integrity and transparency.
L'invention concerne un pansement absorbant qui comprend une composition transparente d'élastomères, laquelle absorbe les fluides corporels et est essentiellement dépourvue de particules de gel hydrocolloïdal. Ladite composition comprend le produit de réaction de: (a) 20 à 80 parties par poids d'un ester d'acide méthacrylique ou acrylique d'un alcool non tertiaire ayant entre 4 et 14 atomes de carbone; (b) 30 à 60 parties par poids d'un monomère hydrophile insaturé éthyléniquement; et (c) 5 à 25 parties par poids d'un monomère polaire éthyléniquement insaturé, différent du monomère hydrophile éthyléniquement insaturé. Ladite composition a la propriété d'absorber des quantités de fluides corporels, qu'elles soient faibles ou importantes, tout en gardant son intégrité structurelle et sa transparence.
