An improved system for attaching a spout to a water supply pipe. The spout includes a spout body with an axial bore forming a stub-out receiver sized to receive the stub out. An annular seal positioned in the spout engages and forms a seal around a stub- out received in the bore. A gripping member is pivotally mounted in a cavity formed in the spout body and opening into the stub-out receiver. The gripping member, engaging the stub- out, is drawn toward an outlet end of the spout body to grip the stub-out while the spout body is urged rearward.
