A method and composition are disclosed for making dibasic amino acid monoesters useful in repair of teeth in which a dibasic amino acid is partially esterfied with an allylic acrylic compound in the presence of an acidic ion-exchange resin at ambient temperature. The invention also comprises cyclicizing the amino groups of the monoesters.
